His parents were Roderick and Catharine (nee' Douglas) O'Connor. In 1877 Catherine had another child and has dropped O'Connor from her name - this child was Mary Ellen Douglas and she was born in the Union Workhouse, Atherton Leigh-Lancaster. I am looking for any information about Mary Ellen's family, one of Jame's sons, my grandfather was keeping in touch with a 'cousin' from Lancaster for most of his life.
