30/10/01: Hilda Yates nee Isherwood of Canada writes: I love to find things on HOME. I have lived in Canada since 1956 and love to visit with family and friends. I would like to find out if anyone has photos taken in 1952 Festival year. I was living at 95 Rugby Rd and was fortunate to be chosen as Festival Queen for Leigh. In 1974 we had a major fire that destroyed our home completely so no photos to share with our 8 children and 16 grand children. I would be so pleased if it were possible to get some of these. I am now in my late 60s, very healthy, my 5 sons all became electricians like their father, 2 of my daughters live in Florida & are singers, the other daughter is a beautician with her own salon. It's lovely to find you and bring home news right into my room.CTaffy123@aol.com

Im happy to say that I found what I was looking for, but sadly I miss little old Leigh with its pubs every 50 yds and nothing to do because Wigan closed everything down. But I do miss the people, Leigh has the best people in the world and I would like to get in contact with friends and people who knew me back then. Friends would know by the name" Ali " and I went to school at lowton high school. I worked for Plank lane Joinery and drank up Leigh every weekend (a local at Ruebens). sauvarinsglass@xtra.co.nz
